about us
Our friendship and our love for books are one and the same. It all started with our weekly trips to the school library at the age of 6, where we first discovered our favorite book, in our favourite colour - The Three Bold Pixies by Enid Blyton. Here began the love we both share, for books.
Our friendship was tested when Laura (age 7) moved from Cyprus where we both grew up, to the UK. We were heartbroken. But fear not, our friendship survived the test of long-distance and we remain the best of friends to this day
meet the faces behind the posts
Hello, my name is Laura, nice to meet you. For me, reading definitely guided me through my childhood. I always loved getting to know new characters and falling into (mostly magical) worlds filled with fairies and mermaids. I often felt like a slow reader, and therefore used to say “I’m not good at reading” until I realised reading is not a race. My love for books has reached an all-time high the past two years. I have worked on expanding the variety on my shelves and making conscious reading decisions to explore an author's body of work to really appreciate their style. Books have educated me, challenged me and I have never had more confidence with reading than I do now. I know, for sure, that the books have, and continue, to enhance my life in many ways.
And my name is Natalie! (but since we’re such good friends - you can call me Nat.) I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was about 7 years old, and up until that point, reading was my enemy. Words on a page would oftentimes overwhelm me. However, once I was able to put a name to why reading was so difficult for me I was determined to make reading my ‘super power’. Books became my escape. I devoured books to the point where I had to be put on a limit of books per month because they were so expensive when I was a child. As I’ve grown my love for reading has grown with me. I learn through the books that I read. I experience different cultures, different countries, and different ways of living. I believe that the best way to get to know me is to look at what I read and hear my opinion on it.
